Rv7 leading edge rib rivets
19.01.2016 at 22:20:13

Has anyone got another way to rivet the leading edge ribs.Vans say to use A470-4 with the manufactured heads on the rib flange........I can't see how I can hold the rivet gun inside the leading edge to do this  undecided
Vans sent an email to say that LP4s are ok......anyone else done that?

Hi Richard
I had the very same problem with mine but DO NOT use the LP-4 rivets without checking with your inspector.  I asked mine and he asked the LAA for guidance - the answer was a definite NO!  I believe the thinking is that only the driven rivets have the requisite strength.
The answer for me was for my Dad to hold the gun while I manoeuvred the bucking bar.  It was far from pretty but was effective.  Good luck.
