Hi all

Does anyone have any experience with a compass from here; http://www.sirs.co.uk/aircraft/light_aircraft

Wondering whether it might be possible to bond it to the windscreen maybe?

Any suggestions as to whether a windscreen mount in an '8 may work? I'm running out of panel space and trying to find a cunning solution!!

Cheers

Rob

Can you not mount the swivel pedestal on top of the coaming?

There's quite a bit of curvature on the screen, so you may have to build up with something like epoxy and cotton flock to get a flat surface. Be very carefull what adhesives you use on perspex, some can cause aging and embrittlement.

I find that, with magnetometers for the EFIS and autopilot and track from GPS, the compass is all but redundant, so would put it anywhere where it can be reasonably compensated and visible from the front seat.

Have you thought about having it de Havilland or Auster style on the cockpit floor?

Hmm, hadn't thought of the coaming! Great idea! Will look into that. Hadn't thought of the effect on the perspex either. Cheers Mark!
